In the department of cardiovascular medicine, we have expert teams of specific pathology such as heart failure, myocardial ischemia and arrhythmia. Moreover, we feature one “general cardiology” team, in which specialists work and care all together for a patient.
As one of heart transplant hospital, many patients all over Japan come to our hospital with complex and severe heart disease. Heart failure team provides wide spectrum of care, from heart transplant and ventricular assist device for indicated patients with end-stage heart failure to palliative treatment for the non-eligible patients. Cardiac intervention team engages in the challenging work of PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) for complex coronary disease such as chronic total occlusion, as well as TAVI (transcatheter aortic valve intervention) for aortic stenosis and BPA (balloon pulmonary angioplasty) for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. Arrhythmia team does not perform only simple ablation and device implant, but also introduces novel procedure such as epicardial ablation for ventricular tachycardia or lead removal using laser sheath. However, the most important thing is how to provide the best care for the patients, and for this purpose each specialist work as a member of one cardiology team.
Another advantage of our team is that we have close relationship with research and developing laboratory. We are now engaged in many research works in collaboration with basic researchers and engineers. Our team also accepts many guests, trainee and visiting doctors from all over the world.
